As I sit here thinking about 2013, I can’t help but to feel good about the plans that I made in 2012 and how I was able to see them through. The amazing thing is that although I probably set my sights a bit too low in some regards, I made some great strides in some other areas. The business of photography is one that is constantly in flux and i’m thankful that I am also in a state of change with it.
Moving to the Atlanta has been an eye-opening situation for me. I’ve learned a lot, and had to come to grips with some things, but all of those events have moved me forward to where I am now. With that being said, I think it is time for a change. I think that in the business sense, I have come full circle. I started off as Thomas Colvin Studios, which is why my website still has that address after some 10 years, and it is that which I’m now returning to. I am invoking a Sankofa… looking back so that I can move forward. I believe that what I’m doing is more than just photography and graphics design. My desire this year is to represent my studio in all that I do.
In designing this logo, I wanted to represent all that I have come from. I have always signed my name Thomas Colvin, III, but have never been able to incorporate it into the design of a logo. This time, it worked and my father and grandfather whose footsteps I follow, will go with me.
I am in the process of developing guidelines that I will have to follow. This will keep me focused and able to deliver the best possible results to customers.
Please continue to post your comments and to share my page with your friends, family, coworkers and other relations. This year, and for years to come, I hope to provide a service of “seeing” to my customers unlike that of any other.
